Hi everyone,

Season of Docs is a program run by Google to fund documentation projects in the open source space. The application process starts on Feb 15 and consists of submitting a proposal. If selected, they'll provide a grant to (primarily) hire a technical writer.

We thought it would be a good opportunity for Bazel to participate as part of our effort to improve our docs, but unfortunately, since we're a Google-funded OSS project, we're not eligible. However, if there are other projects in our ecosystem that would benefit from better documentation, they can apply and also contribute some fixes to the Bazel docs as needed.

We'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this and gauge interest. Is this something we can/should look into as a group?

Best,
Keerthana

I think it would be interesting for the SIG to apply on behalf of all rulesets. It gives us a better economy of scale: each ruleset maintainer doesn't have to apply separately, and the tech writer can help out across the ecosystem wherever the help is most needed.

Chris Love in particular has been doing tutorials and bumping into missing docs - what do you think?

I think that is a great idea.
